64 miles ridden – 224m climbed – temperature 25C (started at 17C, maximum temperature 31C).
We spent most of today on the Danube itself aside from two sections following morning coffee and afternoon tea breaks where we navigated around industrial areas. Each morning we get a weather data sheet and todays showed great promise.

Not too accurate on temperature and cloud cover but they were on wind and lack of rain so Epic Ride Weather gets a thumbs up from all of us.
There isn’t much to add to previous comments on the Danube so I’ll just add some pictures.

Morning tea was on the river front in a town called Aschach and from there we cut across the headland heading towards our lunch stop in Linz. Our approach was on a cycle path along a busy road and then we were funneled onto the tourist water front for a very civilised and leisurely pizza lunch. Sitting in picnic chairs in the shade of tress with a cooling breeze we saw bits of Linz that were attractive and bits that will hopefully look nice when they are finished.

The second half of the day started heading across country and then we rejoined the Danube heading towards our afternoon break in Enns, the oldest city in Austria. It was heating up by now and standing n the main square in the sun with little breeze quickly lost its appeal. So we headed off with the first 5km being a tour of industrial areas and business parks to get us into the fields that would lead us back to the Danube. We came across this little chapel in the middle of nowhere.

The final leg along the anti-flood levee took us into Wallsee, a quiet yet attractive little town where we hung out at a bakery/ice cream parlour/bar/cafe while the guides got us into our rooms. We’re in two different hotels tonight but gathered or dinner at an amazing family restaurant in town.

Tomorrow is our penultimate day as we travel to Weissenkirchen but the priority now is a good night’s sleep.
