Day Four

Jul 17, 2025 | blog, Norfolk - The Rebellion Way

The rebellion continued on day three when I decided to call time on my off-road adventure and head home.

I think that for off-road purists who like to crank out significant distances on a variety of surfaces with their stability and traction challenges The Rebellion Way and its Suffolk counterpart The Wolf Way are ideal but for more traditional touring with panniers this is not (in my opinion!) the best option to take.

Of course having now scoured the official guide in great detail while it states that the route is suitable to gravel bikes and touring bikes with suitable tyres, most of the pictures show mountain bikes with minimal baggage so I guess I should read ALL of the guide and look at ALL of the pictures VERY carefully.

Despite my frustrations I did have fun and I’m smiling as I write this.

Next trip Pisa to Catania in Sicily. Road bike on roads, baggage carried in van, emergency mechanic on call, great food, other riders…..what was I thinking……..
