Among the traditions that ended with our move to Suffolk was my personal training with Des Gough. For over 20 years he had carefully crafted and maintained my late, mid-life physical being in support of cycling while also ensuring that I didn’t only work my legs!
COVID lockdown hit 3 weeks after we moved up here so all the gyms closed and personal training was not possible. Our erratic 3 Mb/sec internet precluded meaningful remote classes so exercise was down to walking the dog (3.5 miles per day) and cycling (tough one….).
As things opened up I did a kayaking course, swam regularly, and after playing more Padel Tennis (a cross between squash and tennis) at Club La Santa, Sue and I joined the Heywood Club in Diss which has 2 Padel courts. I joined the squash league but having not played for a few years that’s a slow start, but it also has a gym through which I met Amy Bobbins with whom I have started personal training.
The aim is that between cycling, walking the dogs, swimming, kayaking, gym training, padel, squash, and Pilates I will live for ever………
Nick, this is such a joy to read about not only your most recent adventures but those previously too!
If it’s ok with you I’m going to steal this beauty!

Suck it up and one day you won’t have to suck it in!”
