Welcome to the new look Nick-on-a-bike blog

Aug 23, 2022 | Munich to Rome September 2022

After 3 years of cancelled bike trips – and subject to British Airways not cancelling my flights – 2022 finally sees me back touring.

On Saturday 10th September I begin a 12 day trip from Munich to Rome and as with my previous adventures I will share that journey on my blog. In the meantime training is underway.

Not only have I been swimming more regularly, Sue and I have been playing padel tennis, I’ve started playing squash (won my first league match last night) and recently signed up for regular gym-training sessions. Updates on these (and any kayaking adventures) will appear in this blog section. The main focus now is my upcoming trip.

Sunday 21st August was the Tour de Broads sportive running out of Little Plumstead to the east of Norwich. I signed up for the 100 mile ride:

It was a beautiful day for a bike ride. The organisers had signposted a 6 mile family ride and then 25, 50, 75, and 100 mile options to choose from. Cycling on mainly quiet country lanes, four of us from Godric CC in Bungay paced our way around Norfolk seeing sea, Broads, chocolate box villages and a selection of welcoming village halls for rest stops and (in Ingham) lunch. A perfect day mainly thanks to Mark, Kevin and Glenn who dragged me along at a faster than my usual pace.

Triumph at the finish line looked like this:

It was a great day out.
