Training with sun protection

After being able to practice in icey, wet and windy conditions, I was able to fill a serious gap in my preparations last weekend by cycling in warm, sunny conditions!

Friends Terry and Julie who Sue and I cycled with in Italy last year, and with whom we will be cycling across France in June came to stay with us in Suffolk and we enjoyed a glorious day cycling the quiet lanes around Bungay.

We were in touring mode which meant interspersing our ride with stops for a) morning tea and cake, b) lunch, and c) afternoon tea. It’s fabulous way to enjoy Spring – warm breeze, green countryside, and fresh air (aside from the large population of local pigs!

I had been out for a swift 25 mile ride on Friday and Saturday’s 55 mile ride added up to some good training for riding, sun protection and of course self-righteous eating.

Only 11 days now before I fly off to New Orleans. The weather there currently is sunny and around mid 20s Celsius although there are seasonal storms – I have asked for these to be scheduled overnight.
