It’s 2018 – cold, windy, snowing…..

Feb 26, 2018 | blog, USA | Mississippi River ride

Training has commenced for my 2018 rides.

Mississippi Ride: Between 8th May and 1st June I will be cycling from New Orleans to Minneapolis following the great Mississippi  river. Covering just over 1726 miles with stops in Memphis and St. Louis this trip will give me a glimpse into much American history – including the Martin Luther King museum in Memphis and Mark Twain’s house – as well as the majesty of the Mississippi itself.

France end-to-end: After 5 days of laundry and repacking I will be heading – this time with Sue – to Caen in Normandy where we will join a number of friends from last year’s Italian trip to cycle an 879 mile route across France to Nice. Strictly off the beaten track, our route goes through the Loire, the Massif, and into Nice via Mont Ventoux – a dream climb for any cyclist (except Sue!).

This winter has not been very cycle friendly.  Lots of ice and rain falling on very poor roads has meant more gym work and swimming rather than cycling but things have improved enough over the last few weeks to enable more regular riding.

More soon…..
